I just saw a similar sun effect used on a crunch flyer and thought I got to use it on my next project, and here I see something like it on your poster. I guess Japanese sunrises are hot right now. Awesome color scheme.
I’ve been using and abusing the “starburst” motif on posters since at least 2001 (I’m looking a the Riot Nrrd poster across the room). I think I saw it in a Steak and Shake ad in 1997 and started putting them on everything to the point when even my parents were pointing out that I was overdoing it. So I gave it a rest of a while.
This client specifically liked the “circus” look of the Harold Night card, so time for starburst. I made this one differently though, it’s rotated triangles instead of a large star shape with every other vector point erased.
