The Audience is A Dumb

November 7th, 2006

Good Taste!Dumb audience! This time last year, my co-production of The First Steps was the “top failed pilot” at 102 (top loser, you mean) and killed by three stupid votes.

Now, yesterday, the same thing happened again with Good Taste. Good Taste, aside from being a million times better than First Steps, seemed to go over better than some shows that placed above it in the laughs-per-minute tally. My conclusion—Audience be stupid. And they hate fine dining. And mimes and ghosts.

Now off to make my movie-of-the-week heartstring tugger Being Glenn, about a child molestor who works at an elite New England prep school.

I really am absolutely baffled as to how this didn’t get picked up. There are at least two shows in the top six that this destroyed.

    Stupid audience!

    like SIAS, for instance…

there are a handfull of people out there who are just sick of Foie Gras jokes, I guess.

this is awesome. i hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of “good taste”. would definitely watch a weekly video of these two characters reviewing actual nyc restaurants.

I’m sorry, but frankly I didn’t think this was very good. The performers didn’t sell the jokes (to the extent that I recognized some jokes as funny but didn’t laugh), the set was poor (ask a restaurant if you can film there next time, they are often agreeable), and the timing needed serious work. There’s a lot of promise here, but blaming this on the audience would be a serious mistake. Better to recognize what you can improve—because there’s plenty—and learn for next time.

I know from personal experience (my earhole bruises bear witness) that Adam is a mentally retarded rapist.
