Amazing! Cute Mascots!
November 30th, 2007For the first time since the ‘72 Olympics, the mascots are not barfy*.
Kawaii powerhouses meomi designed 3 (or 4) bizarre Canadian creatures for the 2010 Olympiad in Vancouver, including a half-orca half-bear which looks like a skunk with a faux hawk. But, by god, theyare cuuuuuuute!
*I concede Hodori the Korean tiger was ok, but he was no Waldi. Also, he seems to have eaten his mate—there was a girl tiger mascot initially who vanished completely with no explanation.

Great design yippee! I just picked the google background so cute not creepy and weird at all – that Izzy from 1996 haunted my dreams- what the hell was he?

I liked Hodori (Korean tiger!) and Roni (the Lake Placid raccoon.) In 1980, Chiquita bananas had collectable stickers of all the different Roni versions (one sticker with Roni posed for every event.) I remembering my brother collecting quite a few of them.
A cartoon bipedal raccoon on skis brandishing a rifle is pretty cool.

It’s like someone hit the Olympics folks with a sensibility stick and happiness bled out.
Bad analogy.
Seriously, they are huggably cute. But that tattoo on Sasquatch’s arm is a wee bit much. But forgivably adorable.
