Mad Men Desktop Wallpaper #8
September 17th, 2008Mad Men Season 2, Episode 8 Desktop Wallpaper. Currently untitled. I’m working on it.
Well into Tuesday and still no Episode 8 on iTunes. Luckily I saw it on Sunday at Nate Shelkey’s, but I don’t have an reference images to draw from. I found a bootleg low-res version of the episode on the internet but it was far from ideal.
This is my first new wallpaper after the SURGE of viral interest and I can’t help but feel I didn’t rise to the occasion.
Incidentally, you know that unseen "Mitch" who’s unhappy about Harry’s raise and is rumored to accuse Harry of "gold-bricking?" It’s totally this guy.
The dorkiest ever rock parody version here, or for iPhone.
Order a prints of this series from zazzle.com or download the Mad Men Icons.

Next week is a rerun, so you tell me what desktop wallpaper you want to see. It can be from this season, last season, a made-up scene… some different show entirely. Leave a comment and I’ll consider it.

I love your blog, and your Mad Men wallpapers are great…I usually have one of them set as my desktop, right now it’s “Sally Draper’s Cocktail Cheat Sheet”...I actually had “Joan and the Photocopier” on my desktop before I had even begun watching the show! Now I’m hooked.
Re: getting the episodes in a timely fashion; I always bittorrent the latest episode on Mininova, someone usually seeds a high-quality video of the latest episode no more than 24 hours after it airs…I had Sunday’s episode playing on Monday night. For instance, here’s Sunday’s episode:

Re: suggestions for new wallpaper for next week: how about doing one on one of the ad campaigns they’ve come up with on the show, like for instance the airline one (“Mohawk”)? Just an idea.

I love this! Betty’s rage always intrigues me. I would totally go nuts if you did one of her at the end of “Shoot” from last season—the cigarette, the gun and the dressing gown were just too awesome.

Someone left a comment on our blog defending the chair-banging as completely appropriate to the situation, and not at all anger-based.
There are so many amazing scenes, both seen and unseen. Helen Bishop at the jewelry counter OR at campaign headquarters. Glen and Betty. Rachel and the dogs. (I am obviously better at last season than at this.)
And playing out any of the ads is a wonderful idea. Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn?
Ooh ooh ooh! (Sorry, they just keep coming.) This is great, but I wouldn’t want to see it… Joan in a paperweight with her legs stuck in the air.
About Mitch: Mitch Sullivan–Media. He was described as fat, bald & charmless, and having a hot wife who was distracting in her halter.

True… I do love it when Betty “acts out” though. Also somebody somewhere suggested the priest with the guitar—I second that emotion.

“Fat, bald, charmless”... these are all words that describe Mitchell Magee.
I think AMC is selling Joan presenting in a paperweight next season.

I’d love to see a Jimmy Barrett wallpaper. Maybe from the scene in “The Benefactor” where he’s running his mouth at Mrs. Schilling.

I think AMC is selling Joan presenting in a paperweight next season.
His and hers Valentine’s gifts; he gets the paperweight, she gets a bird in a cage.

My Top 9 Season 1 Moments I’d Love to See Your take On:
Don’s “Carousel” presentation from “The Wheel”
Midge throwing the TV out the window
The beatnik party or coffeehouse
Roger hitting on Betty in the kitchen in “Red in the face”
The lipstick brainstorming and “basket of kisses”
The election night party
Don reading on the train
Pete in the returns line at the department store
Lois listening in on the switchboard

Love your work. Scenes I’d love to see:
More season 1 stuff:
Betty shooting the pigeons
Don and Rachel on the couch
Roger throwing up in front of the Nixon people
Roger and Joan after their tryst, standing in front of the hotel as if they don’t know each other
Season 2 stuff:
Betty and Don at the Savoy, or Betty and Don at the Stork Club
Betty all disheveled in her party dress
Anything with Don in his trilby ( like, for example, this picture http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3479737344/tt0804503 )
