ARTIE The Strongest Man in the World
ARTIE The Strongest Man in the World
Sparkling '90s Nickelodeon Nostalgia
His outline, the area between shirt-stripes and his glasses lenses glint and shine in the sunlight. This sticker is so shiny it resists being photographed in focus.
The figure of Artie balancing on one foot could be emblazoned on your car bumper or laptop back as a warning to your enemies (eg., pesky bees, guidance counselors, the Atlantic Ocean) to be on their guard.
I drew Artie, the Strongest Man in the World— a supporting cast member on Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" played by Toby Huss wearing child-sized striped red-and-blue pajamas— and printed him on mirror-finish metallic vinyl. Artie was personal superhero to the younger Pete Wrigley ("My Little Viking") who performed amazing feats of strength and muttered incomprehensible catchphrases ("All is Pipe.")
There are other Millennial '90s Nostalgia merch cash-ins all over etsy —all drawing this same Artie pose, apparently— but I'm not a demographic-targeted business. I'm just an illustrator who liked a show 30 years ago and drew a guy.
